At church again today, the topic was suffering. However the focus was on Psalm 107 which talks about how God's steadfast love can get you through difficult times. The pastor recalled a time when a professor told her to remember that at any given moment, everyone is doing the best they can. She said that this can be hard to believe for some people because they want people to do things at their expectations versus at what people have to give at that time.
She also said that focusing on gratitude helps us to isolate suffering. God does not want to see us in pain. He suffers when we suffer. God does not like to see us in pain because pain is not his will. God always responds with steadfast love. The pastor mentioned that the Hebrew word for praise also means radiate, as such we should reflect God's love. We are part of healing when we rejoice for those who have found peace.
