Adding Machine (2/15/12)
I was at the surplus office at my job looking for a filling cabinet. As I was about to leave I noticed this amazing machine in the corner. It is a Burroughs adding machine. It is probably from the early 1900s. This picture does not do it justice. Who knows how it that this machine came to be in the attic of our surplus building. They told me that they are getting ready to send it to the Oregon's historical society. People are in such a need or want for the newest gadget, the fastest whatever, and people overlook the beauty of history. This machine is a piece of art. It is amazing! Keep looking for pieces of history, they are slipping away.
